What happens in a Massage ?

All treatments are one hour or more, however you should allow one and a half hours for a one hour treatment. I feel this is the necessary amount of time to get a result. After filling in your client information form we have a chat about what you want to get out of the treatment. We discuss any injuries or medical conditions that might effect the massage, and agree on a plan for what sort of treatment is best for you. Always go to the loo if you need to before a treatment.

During most treatments it is best to keep talking to a minimum, as it interrupts your relaxation. If something hurts or is uncomfortable, let me know, but otherwise let yourself drift off. Ideally you should let your mind clear, avoiding any thoughts except the here and now of what you can feel. Every time you notice yourself daydreaming, bring your mind back to the present and what you can feel. If you succeed in doing this it will greatly enhance your experience.

If you get a runny nose, make involuntary noises or movements don’t worry, I am not going to judge, and would rather you let it out than interrupt your experience by getting self conscious. Remember that this is your time for your body. Be lazy. Let go. Stop worrying. Release your worries. Enjoy.

During a remedial treatment I will be constantly getting feedback on pain levels, explaining what I am doing, and moving you around. All the same, it is better focus on what is happening and not be distracted by chatting about other things.

After any treatment I will always offer you a glass of water - the therapy is likely to move toxins out of tissues and dehydration after a treatment can lead to a headache, so drink up.

I currently receive clients at two locations in Healesville.

The Yarra Valley Yoga School, 15 Auburn Road, off Don Road, Healesville. Park on the front lawn, and walk through the iron gate to the big studio out the back.

5 Church Street, at the rear of and above the Mower shop on the corner of the Maroondah Highway. Come through the main glass doors, then through the glass door on the left, opposite Mainstream Green.

I also do home visits in the Healesville / Yarra Glen area, and occasionally come further afield.

I also come to work places and do seated massage to rejuvenate staff. Contact me for more information about this.
